lots going on

This is a quick update that is absolutely insufficient to describe my life right now.
1. Asher Michael Berg. I won't try to describe how wonderful our new boy is, but you can check out Anne's blog--she has done the blogging duty with him. Joel is doing really well. He is a fun and wonderful big brother.
2. I defend the diss tomorrow. I am really prepared and excited to show the committee how well I know this context area. The material actually makes sense and the arguments, though complex, are clear and clean.
3. I just bought a 93 Civic DX hatch. It has an overheating issue that I think I can fix. For $600 at only 63k miles (and given the fact that it is in really good shape), I will take the gamble.

A lot of other things are going on too, but the new baby/family life along with cramming on the dissertation have taken up pretty much all of my free time....work is decent (I like the project I am on), the house is holding up well despite me not having time for any projects, the garden/grapes/roses are huge and wonderful, the neighborhood is a wonderful place to be in the summer, and everyone is doing pretty well physically (beyond Anne's "bells palsy" that looks to be fixing itself right now). Overall, life has been pretty good, albeit full.
