Anne and Joel using their sweet "peanut shell" sling. Joel really likes this sling...or at least he falls asleep shortly after getting into it. I am up early to get to Detroit. Joel was up a lot last night too...argh.

The drive is sort of enjoyable though. I have been catching up on mhbcmi.org services and listening to NPR, but I think I will start listening to the learn Japanese and Spanish discs that I was doing when I used to walk to BGSU.

  • It's like he's saying, "Let me in, let me in!"

He already looks so much bigger; what a dear, wee little man! Don't grow too much before I get to see you, Joel!

  • I could never do the learn Japanese discs in the car. 1) You have to repeat things out loud, which is weird when you are alone in a car. 2) You *really* have to concentrate on the material, which is almost assuredly not a good idea while driving. Yes, I know I tend to take a lot of liberties while driving, but at least I try not to make a habit of it.

  • Oh, and to answer Neil's emailed question: I use burst mode a lot so my camera is up to 1400+ pictures. I will probably have about 500 or so showable pictures once I get back. A lot of them are of family...

  • Awesome, Sal! I am glad to hear the camera is working out so well.

With Joel, I am satisfied with about 1 out of 5 pictures because I do about 1 unflashed picture a second when something interesting is going on. 4 blurred and 1 nice seems about average.

Yeah, I was wondering how much into the disc I would be...but it is mainly highway driving, so I should be almost ok. Besides, I otherwise have to contend with English speech, music (which involves people looking at me because I am singing), nothing or daydreaming (which involves people looking at me because I am talking to myself). Good point though...I will keep my mind on whether it is worse than the other options. Goodness knows the Civic is dangerous enough as is.
