High-end supermarket hot dog taste test

Pseudo experiment. Hotdog taste test.  Oscar Meyer all beef vs Hebrew national vs Nathans.  Anne and I as judges.

Nathan's was the winner, perhaps because it was the most sausage-like of the three.  Nathans' were far juicier and more flavorful than the other two brands.  Oscar Meyer and Hebrew National were close to a tie but we liked the Oscar Meyer more in comparison but agreed that it had some off flavors that the Hebrew Nationals didn't.  I feel bad saying it, but we liked them in their order of saltiness (i.e., Nathans had more salt than Oscar Meyer which had more salt than Hebrew National.

We also had some Kroger "value" dogs that tasted like sawdust.

I hope this helps you purchase high-end hotdogs better than you would have otherwise.
